About the Company

NW DANCE PROJECT (NWD) was founded in 2004 by the renowned dancer and choreographer Sarah Slipper in Portland (Oregon). Since that time, the company has established itself as a daring and innovative contemporary dance company.

NWD celebrates, supports, and represents excellence in dance. The company is dedicated to creating and performing inspired, original contemporary dance works from the field’s most talented choreographers from around the world. The result is a repertoire of more than 300 contemporary works.

The dancers are all classically trained and develop a bold, dynamic, and independent ballet vocabulary. NWD performs, educates, creates, cultivates, and champions diversity while engaging and deepening public appreciation and support of dance.

"A nice evening full of surprises with a great company."

Ostthüringer Zeitung, Sabine Wagner, 02.2019

"While the audience had already honored every single choreography with great applause, the large dance theater community is now celebrating its guests from Portland: with standing ovations, whistles of enthusiasm and storms of applause."

Mainpost, Manfred Herker, 02.2020
