About the Company

The MALANDAIN BALLET BIARRITZ (MBB) was founded in Biarritz in 1988 at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the municipality of Biarritz and with the support of the Conseil Général des Pyrénées Atlantiques and the Conseil Régional Nouvelle-Aquitaine.

MBB has a permanent ensemble of 22 full-time employed dancers. These artists are all classically trained, nevertheless, the artistic expression is contemporary through the work of the artistic director Thierry Malandain, who is focusing on the dancing body, its fragility, its power, and its sensuality.

With over 80.000 spectators every year, MBB is one of Europe's most-watched companies, giving more than 100 performances in the season at home and abroad.

As a national choreographic center, MBB wants to show every person dance and offers workshops and public trainings in more than 450 events yearly.
