Artistic Director: Martin HARRIAGUE

About the Company

The French dancer, musician and multiple award-winning choreographer MARTIN HARRIAGUE created works for renowned ensembles like Malandain Ballet Biarritz, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, Hessisches Staatsballett Wiesbaden, and DantzaZ.

With his works MARTIN HARRIAGUE delivers a message of hope, love, tolerance and respect. The aim is to question social constructions and to demand a better world.

This is also the case in FOSSILE from 2019: a couple dances a Pas de Deux to the music of Franz Schubert and is supported by an object on stage that keeps revealing new gifts, a kind of Pandora's box – it opens the door for endless possibilities: be it the possible destruction of parts of nature, be it the hope of reincarnation.

"In the long pas de deux and the solo passages, the dancing moment dominates. But this dance is neoclassical, appears natural throughout, remains aesthetic and is created wonderful from the tempos, developments and moods of Schubert's music - piano works, songs, trios. "

General-Anzeiger, Jürgen Bieler, 10.2020

"Harriague makes a hazardous assignment — a 55-minute duet — look easy. Malandain may well have found his successor as Biarritz’s top choreographer."

Financial Times, Laura Cappelle, 09.2019
