About the Company
The Slovene National Theatre Maribor is the largest cultural institutions in Slovenia with one-century long tradition. Since it was established in 1919, it has had an immense cultural and political role through its cultural creativity. The ballet of Slovene National Theatre Maribor (BALLET MARIBOR) is a leading ballet ensemble with balanced classical, neoclassical and contemporary performances.
BALLET MARIBOR, led by the Romanian dancer and choreographer Edward Clug, hosts many guest dancers and choreographers from other countries. During the last decade, Edward Clug has put BALLET MARIBOR on the international map of ballet companies with his staging's of innovative and highly expressive ballet performances, which are nevertheless firmly rooted in ballet tradition. The company produces two new ballet performances each year. Beginning with the 2023/24 season, the company will include Edward Clug's full lenght work FAUST in its repertoire.
