A coincidence of events: Simultaneously and without each others’ knowledge TANZMAINZ – the Staatstheater Mainz’s contemporary dance ensemble and the renowned Slovenian EN-KNAP-GROUP engage the same Choreographers. It is special because for the first time, without previous experience, the up and coming choreographic duo Guy Nader und Maria Campos, Barcelona/ Spain were able to create productions for such well known companies. Both in Slovenia and Germany their creations were a runaway success.
To celebrate their success both pieces are being combined as a full-length evening. Together with the new commission from composer Miguel Marin they present the spectacular and unique movement language of Guy Nader and Maria Campos.
TANZMAINZ is the dance ensemble of Staatstheater Mainz/Germany, since 2014 under the direction of Honne Dohrmann. With 21-members, Germany’s largest contemporary dance company commissions world-premieres from innovative choreographers such as Guy Weizman & Roni Haver, Sharon Eyal & Gai Behar, Guy Nader & Maria Campos, Koen Augustijnen & Rosalba Torres Guerrero among others.
TANZMAINZ’s goal is to achieve effects of artistic synergy with the maximum possible openness and to use these for developing new choreographic concepts. The creation of networks, collaborations and co-productions play an important role in the company’s artistic development with the strong intention to build a bridge between the theatre establishment and the international freelance dance scene. dance scene.
EN-KNAP-GROUP, founded in 2007 by Iztok Kovač and EN-KNAP Productions, is the only professional contemporary dance ensemble in Slovenia. Since its establishment ten years ago, EnKnapGroup has worked with over 30 Slovene and international choreographers and theatre directors of aesthetically diverse backgrounds, and created a repertoire of 25 full-evening stage works and a dance film. In addition to making over 50 domestic appearances per year, the company regularly tours internationally.
