HUBBARD STREET DANCE CHICAGO (HSDC) was founded in 1977 by veteran dancer and choreographer Lou Conte and was from 2000-2009 under the artistic leadingship of Jim Vincent. Today, under the leadership of the Artistic Director Glenn Edgerton, 16-18 dancers represent HSDC throughout the world.
During all these years, HSDC has emerged as an innovative force in contemporary dance. The company combines modern and classical ballets techniques into a unique artistic style. Its repertoire serves as a living archive for signature works by world-class choreographers like Nacho Duato, William Forsythe, Jirí Kylián, Kevin O'Day, Lar Lubovitch, Ohad Naharin and Twyla Tharp.
In addition, HSDC regularly collaborates with emerging choreographers to create new dance works and to extend its movements.
