The NEW YORK CITY BALLET (NYCB) is one of the leading dance companies in the world. Their active repertory includes over 150 works, nearly all of them are seen as masterpieces. The company was founded in 1948 by the choreographer George Balanchine and arts aficionado Lincoln Kirstein. Speed and musicality of the dancers as well as bringing the neoclassicism to modern audience are trademarks of the ensemble. In 1949 Jerome Robbins joined the NYCB as associate artist director.
He created, with the help of Balanchine and many guest choreographers, a multiplicity of works. After the NYCB moved to Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater, the company tunred into one of the world’s great dance companies, with more than 90 dancers, an 62-member orchestra, an official ballet school (School of American Ballet) and an annual 23-week season in New York.
* NEW YORK CITY BALLET will be presented in cooperation with Opus 3 Artists (New York City, USA), Robert Berretta.
