News rund um NDKD

Adventskalender-Blog | Tür 22 – David Warburton

Today is the 22nd of December 2021 and we would like present to you Mr. David Warburton. He is Canadian and works as Company Managing Director at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet of Canada (RWB). We work together for many years, our last tour with “Moulin Rouge” was phenomenal and took us to many European countries such as the Netherland, Italy, and Germany. David describes himself as an ordinary person living an extraordinary life. For him the words “transformative”, “inspirational” and “uplifting” are very much related to dance and culture.

Let’s continue with the interview:

NDKD: Thank you for participating, dear David. That is so exciting. Here ist our first question: What does DANCE mean to you?

David Warburton (DW): What I love about dance is that we are all touched by it, whether it is dancing in your kitchen like nobody is watching, or on the stage at Sadler’s Wells. Dance is for everyone.

NDKD: Who or what inspires you and why?

DW: An aspiring dancer, far from home, walks into a dark studio in the early hours of the day to quietly practice. This story plays out every day, in cities and remote towns, in nearly every country around the world. How can you not love the heart and dedication of those who are called to dance?

NDKD: How and where are you spending Christmas this year?

DW: Ballet inverts the holidays schedule for those connected to Nutcracker. For myself, and countless others, it is not until after December that we make our way home to be with family and loved ones. Nutcracker has become an important holiday tradition and a source of joy for the communities in which we serve.

NDKD: Do you have a particular thought that you would like to share with us?

DW: As dance practitioners, we have a solemn duty to defend bold ideas. We must take chances without which no artistic victory is possible. It is better to take risks than to do nothing, for surely then we will fail.

NDKD: Thanks for the answers. We wish you a wonderful Nutcracker time 😊!
